Your vehicle needs an oil change, and you take it to a local
auto repair around the corner. You leave the vehicle. The
business then informs you that not only does your vehicle
need an oil change, it also needs a new engine, and the
repairs have begun without your authorization.
“You go in, responding to the repair shop’s ad for a certain
job at a certain price. Then, they tell you that they’ve
found all kinds of other things wrong,” says Nevada Consumer
Affairs Commissioner James E. Campos. "It's almost like bait
and switch."
